A weighted heart, made to be held.
The Heart of Hope is a small weighted comfort heart, 7 inches across and 1 pound, made of 100% cotton and filled with whole flaxseed and a quiet scent of lavender. Light enough for a child to carry, heavy enough to feel like company. Made to be held in the palm during anxious moments, set on the chest during rest, tucked into a hospital bed, or sent to someone who is having a hard time and needs to know they're not alone.
This is the smallest, quietest piece in the Parker Mountain line. It doesn't ask anything of the person holding it. It just stays.
Who it's for
The Heart of Hope was made for the moments when words don't quite fit. It travels well between hands and houses. People give it, hold it, and pass it on.
- For yourself, on days when you need something steady to hold
- For a child, during big feelings, transitions, or when sleep won't come
- For someone you love in grief, illness, recovery, or a long stretch of hard
- For a friend you can't be with, sent through the mail with a note tucked inside
How it's used
There's no right way to use the Heart of Hope. It's small enough to keep in a coat pocket, light enough to set on a child's chest at bedtime, soft enough to hold against your own when something hurts. Some people place it over the heart during meditation. Some keep it on a nightstand. Some give it away. Some keep one for themselves.
The 1-pound weight provides what therapists call deep touch pressure: the calming sensation of steady weight on the body. It's the same reason a hand on your back feels settling, or a long hug feels different than a quick one. Held against the chest or palmed during anxiety, it gives the nervous system something to lean into.
Warm it, cool it, or hold it as it is
The Heart of Hope can also be gently warmed or cooled, depending on what someone needs:
- Warm: Microwave on a clean plate for 30 to 45 seconds for soft heat. Hold against the chest, the belly, or wherever needs softening. Lovely for cold nights, anxious mornings, or someone in recovery.
- Cool: Seal in a bag in the freezer for 1 hour. Place over the forehead, the eyes, or the chest for a quiet cooling. Helpful for headaches, hot flashes, fevers, or moments when grief feels physically warm.
- As it is: The 1-pound weight alone is enough on its own. Many people never warm or cool it. They just hold it.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Heart of Hope a good sympathy gift?
Yes. It's one of the most-given pieces in the Parker Mountain line, sent to people in grief, illness, hospital recovery, or quiet hard times. It's small enough to mail, gentle enough to hold during the hardest days, and light on words. Many people include a short note when they send one.
Is it safe for children?
The Heart of Hope is recommended for all ages, with adult awareness for very young children. The 1-pound weight is gentle and the fabric is soft 100% cotton with no plastic, metal, zippers, or small parts. Many parents give it to children ages 4 and up for use during anxious moments, transitions, or bedtime. For toddlers and younger, please supervise.
What does the weight actually do?
The 1-pound weight provides deep touch pressure, a calming signal to the nervous system that helps the body settle. It's the same reason a hand on your back feels settling, or a long hug feels different than a quick one. Held against the chest, palmed during anxiety, or tucked under the cheek, it gives the nervous system something to lean into. It isn't a treatment or a cure for anything; it's small comfort, on purpose.
Can the Heart of Hope be heated or cooled?
Yes. To warm: place on a clean plate in the microwave for 30 to 45 seconds, then add 10-second increments if you'd like more warmth (do not exceed 1 minute total). Always test the temperature against your wrist before placing on the body. To cool: seal in a plastic bag and place in the freezer for 1 hour. Many customers never warm or cool it and simply hold it as it is. The choice is yours.
What does it smell like?
A soft, quiet lavender. Made from whole dried lavender herbs sewn inside the cotton, with no added essential oils or synthetic fragrance. The scent is gentle, not perfumey, and stays fragrant for about 6 to 12 months with regular use. It's chosen because lavender has a long, well-known association with calm, and because the scent itself is unintrusive enough to keep close.
Can I wash it?
Spot clean only with cool water and mild soap. The Heart of Hope is sewn closed and should not be machine washed or fully submerged. Water damages the flaxseed and dulls the lavender. Kept dry, it stays soft and fragrant for a long time.
Can I send it as a gift?
Yes. The Heart of Hope is small and light enough to send through standard mail. Many customers send it directly to a friend, family member, or someone in hospital with a short note enclosed. It arrives ready to hold.
Who makes these?
Each Heart of Hope is sewn by hand in New Hampshire by Parker Mountain Comfort Wraps, a one-woman studio rooted in over 30 years of yoga practice and a belief that the body knows how to settle when given the right kind of quiet.
