The Kata Basket is woven from braided jute fiber by Fair Trade–certified artisans in Bangladesh. Jute is a fast-growing crop that requires little irrigation, though it is not inherently problem-free: global shipping adds carbon, and no packaging details have been disclosed by the supplier. Because each piece is handcrafted, expect small variations in size, color, and weave.Available in two sizes — approximately 14.5" tall × 14.5" round (L) or 12" tall × 12" round (S). When the basket reaches the end of its useful life, jute fiber will break down in a home compost pile given moisture and time, though a leather or synthetic handle, if present, would need to be removed first. Dust or vacuum regularly; wipe with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Keep out of direct sunlight to slow fading.
